C.E. "Buddy" Coiner FISHERSVILLE
Charles Edward "Buddy" Coiner, 75, widower of Anna Mae (McCourry) Coiner, of Fishersville, passed away Friday morning, August 1, 2008, at the Augusta Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 10, 1933, in Augusta County, a son of the late Fay F. and L. Marie (Clinedinst) Coiner. Following graduation from Wilson Memorial High School, he served with the United States Army as a medic.
Mr. Coiner was employed by the Waynesboro DuPont Plant for 27 years. Following retirement, he became a locksmith and thoroughly enjoyed this trade. He was an active member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ.
His wife of almost 56 years preceded him in death on February 8, 2008.
Family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, John T. and Carolynn Coiner of Waynes-boro, C. E. "Buddy Jr.," and Patricia Coiner, of Columbus, Georgia; three brothers, James W. Coiner of Crimora, Marshall F. Coiner and Harold T. Coiner, both of Waynes-boro; nine grandchildren, John Coiner II, Sarah Coiner, Olivia Walker, and John, Mary, Joseph, Benjamin, Hannah, and David Coiner; three great- grandchildren, Kailey and Jedd Walker and McKenzie Coiner; a number of nieces, a nephew, and great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Pastor Phillip R. Forehand. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buddy Coiner Music Memorial Fund of West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland St., Waynesboro, VA 22980 due to his love of church music and singing in the choir for many years.
Henry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
