We had a kid with biliary atresia whose stoma prolapsed in the most brazen of ways. He took one look on rounds and walked out of the room, the whole team of residents, students, nurses and sundries following him. We were shocked, as he never was anything but calm and he never cussed, when he shook his head and muttered "Oh, shhhh..." He stopped, looked at us all and said "BAD WORD, I mean really BAD WORD." There are no words to describe the gentle, humble,amazing man and physician he was. As a nurse who was privileged to have worked along side him I cannot recall anyone who ever met him who didn't love and respect him. As a nurse of 35 years I have never met anyone like him. He lived a life that truly honored Christ.what a precious legacy he left.
