CONNER, Charles Michael Charles Michael Conner of Sharpsburg, 65, died March 13, 2016 after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. He had a passion for his friends and family and had a love for each of you that will remain forever with you. Mike, a 1968 graduate of Forest Park High School, worked over 35 years at Georgia Power Company where he started as a meter-reader and rose to Supervisor. He was always one to crack a joke and show simple kindness to those in need. He never met a stranger and was devotedly loyal to his many close friends. Mike loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with friends to Australia and fishing in Alaska. He loved the water and watching God's beauty shine from a sailboat. He made the remark one day that there had to be a God to create such beauty. He was a gifted guitar player and singer in his younger days and loved country music. He was a drummer in the Forest Park Senior High band. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ralph E. Conner; his mother, Doris Sikes Smith; and his brother, Gerald E. Conner. He is survived by loving sisters, Peggy Conner Rainwater (Jerry) of Fayetteville and Bonnie Smith Holley (Perry) of Hoschton; his sister-in-law, Gill Conner of Fayetteville; seven nieces and nephews that he adored, Paige Conner of Cumming; Pam Bigham Bishop (Wayne) of Senoia, Jenny Rainwater Tischer (Chet) of Roswell, Todd Bigham of Fayetteville, Jason Rainwater (Brittany) of Fayetteville; Katie Holley Fiddler (Brandon) of Buford, and Paul Holley (Kiana) of McAllen, TX; former step-son, Philip Howard of Williamson; and several great nieces and nephews and his beloved Rottweiler, Charlene. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on March 16, 2016 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM prior to the service. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Harps Crossing Baptist Church fellowship hall, Highway 92 South and Antioch Road, Fayetteville, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joseph Sams School, 280 Brandywine Boulevard, Fayetteville, GA 30214, or online to http://josephsamsschool.org/. Michael was an avid University of Georgia fan, so feel free to wear your Georgia colors to honor him. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville - www.mowellfuneralhome.com
