Eaton Funeral Home Obituary

Charles D. "Charlie" Davis III passed away unexpectedly on Monday July 27th. Charlie was the son of Claire Wade Davis and Charles Davis Jr. When Charlie was 9 his mom passed away and his grandmother Emmy McVeigh Wade stepped in to raise him. He was born in Hawkinsville Georgia and resided in South Easton Ma with his wife Rosemarie (Hebshie) Rappold. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie, his brother William, son Bill, "adopted" daughter Susan Graybill three grandchildren and many step children and grandchildren. Charlie attended Emory at Oxford his senior year and was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University. After attending for a year he went into the Marines. At the completion of his service he attended Mercer University and was an outstanding track athlete and received his undergraduate BA. He received his master's degree in Divinity from Yale University and later a PhD in psychology from Boston University. For 25 years Charlie served as Baptist Minister in the Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina and Massachusetts. Always a strong man of faith, he was very active in Christ Church in Needham Ma where he served several terms as a vestry member right up till his passing. He also participated as in the sermon group and occasionally preached to the congregation. Anyone who had the privilege of hearing his sermon would say, "He was born to preach" Charlie also was a clinical psychologist and had a private practice in Needham and Brockton. Three words that were uttered continually by family and friends "we were blessed" to have him in our lives. A Funeral Service will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Ave Needham on Friday, July 31st at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8PM. Interment is private.
