Not sure what to say?

I rode with Charlie and others while living in Grand Rapids. We did several triathlons as a group. He was quite a character and made our rides together totally fun and memorable.

I considered Charlie my closest friend having experienced many great memories growing up in our childhood. I still think about some of the great times we experienced together. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family!

Charlie will always be missed but never forgotten! He was a great Friend, Classmate, Teammate & really Good Man! Our thoughts & prayers will always be with his Family & Friends!

Hope it helps to know Charlie is still remembered fondly. I especially think of him whenever I put my helmet on to ride my bicycle, but I do it with a smile as I know what passion he had for doing it also.

He touched the life of so many people. we love hime so much

I will miss him. He was a wonderful mentor during the 80's. We would meet off and on over the years with out last meeting at the Grandville Senior Center. It's a sad day every day now that I know what happened to him prior to his passing. For many months I kept checking his Facebook page, LinkedIn, and other social media and never discovered this event until now, February 4, 2017.

We were deeply saddened to hear about Charlie's accident and sudden passing. Our thoughts and prayers will continue to be with his family. I have known Charlie since elementary school and I have always considered him a good friend. We always knew Charlie as a "very good man" and "special person". He positively touched the lives of many people due to his winning personality, leadership and sportsmanship. We will always remember him fondly. Steve and Leah (Whaley) Zimmerman

I knew Charles as a patient of mine. I was fortunate to treat him for lower extremity problems from his running or biking. We participated in triathlons and had many a long discussion. Charles was a very kind, pleasant intelligent person. Many times I would not charge him for his office visit because he was more of a friend than a patient, I am thoroughly disheartened on his tragic death. We had talked about biking and its inherent dangers/drivers but always hoped that people would be...

Charlie & I grew up together, just outside of Funkstown. He helped us bale hay on the farm and we trained & supported each other on and off the football field! What a senseless tragedy that has impacted so many. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to all of Charlie's family.
