I have so many memories of the Sonny Duke Club. I was in my early 20's and my exhusband, (Steve), and I went every weekend. Boy, did we have fun. Steve's father was a Shriner and they would bring a big crowd and we loved every minute of it. We saw Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Watson and several more. I would give anything if we had somewhere to go like Sonnys today!!! So many great memories!! Sonny may you rest in peace.

You gave me a most-needed job at the club in 1975 and I have never forgotten the fun days (and nights!) I had while I worked there. The world has lost a great singer, but sing for the Lord now.

Sonny Duke made me love country music when I was 22 and was talked in to going to the club with a friend. Sonny became a friend and I hated when he no longer was entertaining and missed hearing Today I Started Loving You Again which he did the best even better than Merle Haggard.Sonny also told me the secret of making fluffy biscuits and tomato gravy my sister thought we were crazy to sit and discuss recipes at a club. Sonny was so good to my family and to me. We had some good times when I was home on leave in the 70's. My prayers go out to his family.

SONNY AND I WERE FRIENDS A LONG TIME AGO. TIME AND DISTANCE DID NOT ERASE THE EASY CAMARADERIE THAT EXISTED BETWEEN US. IN HIS LAST FEW YEARS OUR FRIENDSHIP LAY EASILY BETWEEN US, AS IF NO TIME HAD PASSED. SONNY LOVED MUSIC. IT WAS IMPORTANT TO HIM BUT NOTHING WAS AS IMPORTANT AS HIS LOVE FOR GAYE AND HIS PRIDE IN HIS BOYS. SENTIMENT DID NOT COME EASILY TO HIM BUT THE ADMIRATION HE FELT FOR GAYE'S KIND AND LOVING APPROACH TO LIFE WAS WRITTEN BETWEEN THE LINES IN EVERY WORD AND HIS EYES LIT UP...
