Charles Eakin

Dr Eakin was my across the street neighbor. My sister, Lisa, and I played with his kids. Dr Eakin came to our school, Marti Park, as a guest teacher of music. We divided into groups and came up with our own experimental music - using found objects in the classroom. All went well until the girl with the longest nails ended their groups creation with a long walk along the chalkboard scratching her nails. I never heard him laugh so hard. Saw him mad once though. His kids and I were too close...

He was inspiring and encouraging as my freshman theory professor.

One of my favorite professors at CU and a great supporter of my musical endeavors over many years. He will be missed.
