Not sure what to say?

Gen. Eifler was a true gentleman, with no airs of superiority, but a clear thinker who understood the true priorities of life. It was such a privilege to have known him and to call him my friend. Huntsville has so much to be grateful for his selfless leadership. Barry Johnston

Dear Family; I had the astonishing good fortune of pulling KP at our brand-new Mess Hall at the Ordnance Guided Missile School (OGMS) when Col. Eifler was assigned there in July 1959. On a Lark, the Mess Sergeant telephoned his office to leave a message inviting him to come and inspect the new remodeling at his convenience. Not 10 minutes later, Col. Eifler rang the phone and told us HE WAS ON THE WAY! He arrived wearing church clothes (because it was on a Sunday). We were all astonished...

When I first saw the name of LTG Eifler, it struck a distant memory. Then I remembered as a young Sergeant in the Honor Guard in Germany I had been stopped by a LTG one afternoon while marching some young(er) soldiers around the Kaserne. I later learned that it was LTG Eifler. That was in 1972-1973 in Worms, Germany. LTG Eifler was the CG, USTASCOMEUR at the time. My heartfelt sympathies to the family....he was a good one!

Mary:I do not know if you remember me, I worked with you at Lovemans many years age, You have my sympathy, I lost both of my parents several years age, Sorry I did not get to come by to see you in person.

Dear Eifler Family,

You may remember that Charlie had a sculptor friend, the son of his good friend Jimmy Johnston. Believe me, Charlie played a very important role in my early development. He was a very genuine individual with a wonderful sense of humor. My thoughts are with you as you pass through this difficult time. God bless all of you.
