Charley was a great Kiwanian. When I asked him to serve on the Board of Directors, he said "Okay, but I don't want to become too obligated." For those who do not know or recall, Charley led the Killearn Kiwanis Club through some very significant projects like the Gretchen Everhart Playground Enhancement, The Big Fish, FSU Kiwanis Scholarship House Desks, and his personal continuing project of making wooden toys for a variety of worthy causes. He also served as club secretary. Some accomplishments for someone who did not want to become too obligated. We will miss him greatly. Chuck Walter, Tallahassee-Killearn Kiwanis.

Never a project was undertaken that your advise was not asked when I was lucky enough to live just a few blocks from you in Miami. From one Outlaw to another in the Wessel Family... God Speed !.....

Dear Bert & Betsy, David & Patti, Elaine & Tom, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you reflect and celebrate your Dad’s life.

I will always have great memories of your Dad and all the fun times that our families had. From just hanging at your house, to the Boy Scouts & camping, the Drum & Bugle Corp, family trips, the Key’s, Labor Day weekends in Ft Myers, Hurricane football games, Pizza at The Bottle Cap inn, Christmas’s & Birthday’s, and so much more. Hanging out with your Dad, your family and all of you guys was always a fun times had by all.
I remember your dads great sense of humor, one time in particular we were all in his car going to a Hurricane football game and as we were sitting in traffic a car pulled in front of us with just married signs written all over their car, your dad smiled and said “lets kiss the bride” and proceeded to tap the back of their car a few times with the front of his car, and we all laughed.
Your Dad was a great guy, with a kind, caring and loving heart. He will truly be missed and always remain forever in our hearts.
Love,
Joey & Natalie Starling
