Charles Albert Evans

A wonderful, supportive colleague and friend during my early years on the UW School of Medicine faculty. Chuck was retiring as chairman of microbiology as I was coming on board as founding chairman of family medicine. During my first month there was a retreat of all department chairs and the dean and associate deans. As we left at the end he said; "You have been to your first of these retreats and I have been to my last. I know which of us is the fortunate one."
