Not sure what to say?

I am at the American Cheese Society annual meeting. What an honor to commemorate Chuck at a place reflective of his and Karen commitment to quality artisan cheese. Chuck the goat whisperer.

Karen, and Family,
My heart is very sadden to hear the loss of Chuck. My best wishes goes out to you all. I have gotten to know Chuck and Karen over the years and also have thought of them as my friends. If i couldn't answer a question in the store about goats i called Chuck he was alway welling to help me out. Chuck well greatly missed !!!

Chuck was more of a curmudgeon than anyone I’ve ever met. There was no one like him. He was loving and cranky, opinionated and tolerant, sophisticated and down-to-earth all at the same time. He educated me about so many things. We were both interested in art and ranch stuff, but it was both meeting our True Loves at the same time that bonded us for life. Ruth and I will miss him terribly.

KAREN, ADRIENNE, MILES
IT WAS SO GOOD TO SEE ALL OF YOU AGAIN ON OUR RECENT TRIP TO YOUR FARM DURING CHUCK'S ILLNESS. WE WISH YOU MUCH LOVE AT THIS TIME.
LISA, ARNE, LELA AUTIO

Dear Karen, Miles and Adrienne,

It is with heartfelt sympathy that I find myself sending you this note. I was astounded when I called but a short time ago to order some cheese that I found that my friend Chuck was so very ill. I remember like it was yesterday that Chuck and Karen stopped by our restaurant, Gasperetti's in Yakima to tempt me with some goat cheese. The first bite was a revelation as well as the kindness and friendship that developed between us. Many years have passed...

I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your husband, Charles. I remember meeting you two and your son, Miles who was a teenager back in 1992 when I came to visit you with my Aunt Tish. You and your husband were so good to Tish. I also remember your hospitality and those wonderful goats.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

My heart broke when I heard the news. I want you to know my prayers and thoughts are with you all in the loss of your father, husband and friend. My love and sympathy goes out to you all Adrienne, Karen and Miles...

Dear Karen and family

My heart goes out to all of you. The news of Chuck's death saddens me deeply and I hope memories of his gentleness and artistry warm and comfort you. I am reminded of our first meeting in 2001 in Bra Italy when we showcased several Rollingstone cheeses. I was honored to represent your craft.

In writing about the company in 2006, I said rumors abounded about Chuck being a "goat whisperer"... it was true! The quality of the man was reflected in his...

Chuck and I shared an apartment for a time during our first year in grad school. I was greatly impressed with his work ethic, dedication to art and with his work in ceramic sculpture. I believe that I learned much about a personal dedication to art from Chuck and for that I have been thankful to him my entire artistic career. I will not forget him.
