Charles "David" Falconer

David was an exemplary person. I was always humbled in his presence.

I just recently moved in to a new home, and was getting ready to hang a couple of pictures that David gave me - special ones of Mt. Hood. I had not heard of his passing, and I had not seen him since Shirley died,and for that I am very sorry. David was a good friend and a super neighbor in Hillsboro while he lived there, as was Shirley. He shared his love for life and his photography generously, and always had a lot of love for his friends and family. I still to this day will occasionally...

David would always stop to see my Dad, Les, at our house in Parkdale, while Dad was doing well. He often talked us into going outside for some pictures of my Dad and I together. At the moment I really wouldn't want to do it-but was so glad we did; he would send us copies of these pictures -that I cherish today. When my then 15 yr old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes he talked to her about what it was like for him at that age with Type 1 so she could see how things have progressed...

Dave and his family became a part of our(Hood River) family and community. He was a fine man who will be missed.

After Shirley did, David took a class of mine at Western Oregon University in Design. I wish I'd known more about him then to know how humble I should have been. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun and an honor to have him in class and later as a friend who appreciated my socks. The students appreciated him terrifically. What a wonderfully good and creative person he was. I will miss him.

It is wonderful to see these pictures and remember David and Shirley—good times with such beautiful and good-hearted people…I love the picture of David's 80th birthday with his 4 girls. Our love to all of you--Elaine and Al

David was my favorite photography teacher. I took his classes at PCC and also some private lessons. I was so inspired by his love of photography.
