Charles Ringer Fitch, "KA9AXA", March 1, 2008, age 84, late of Olympia Fields, formerly of Chicago. Beloved husband of the late Valerie R., nee Rose; dear father of Glenna (Rev. Dudley) Elvery of Chicago Heights; cherished grandfather of Michael (Dori) Garnes and Kristofer Garnes; great grandfather of Hayden Garnes; loving brother of Morgan (Helen) Fitch, Patricia (the late Russell) Carlson and James (Beth) Fitch. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Owner of the former Charles Ringer Co. Former member of the Board of Directors of the South Chicago Savings Bank/Advance Bank, Trinity Hospital, and South Chicago Y.M.C.A. Member of Triluminar Lodge # 767 A.F. & A.M. and Medinah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Former 10th Ward Republican Committeeman. Graduate of Colorado School of Mines Class '49. Sergeant in the U.S. Army, served during World War II in the European Theater, Battle of the Bulge, recipient of a Silver Star and Purple Heart, also served as 2nd Lt. during the Korean War. Resting at the Tews Funeral Home, 18230 S. Dixie Hwy., Homewood, Tuesday, March 4, from 2 to 9 p.m. Masonic Service 7 p.m. Funeral service, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. 708-798-5300.
