Charles Fling Obituary

Charles Lee Fling

March 1, 1981 - October 9, 2021

Charles "Charlie" Lee Fling, 40, passed away on October 9, 2021 in a car accident in Mumford, TX which was near his home in Bryan, TX. Charlie was born on March 1, 1981 and lived in Bryan his entire life. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1999.

Charlie's kind, gentle and loving soul was obvious and infectious to his family and friends. Charlie loved the outdoors and nature. Whether he was riding his bike through country roads or kayaking at Toledo Bend Lake, nature brought him joy. His love and care for animals was apparent. He recently rescued a stray dog and small kitten that are now part of the family. The outdoors was his sanctuary and provided him peace and solace.

Charlie was also very creative and had a talented eye for designing and creating. He applied his creativity and learned the jewelry making trade from the ground up with his Dad. During his many years working along-side Sam and Jean at Fling Jewelers, Charlie created many pieces of beautiful jewelry and helped with the day-to-day business. He was a true craftsman at heart and also enjoyed making and building wood crafted items.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Sam and Jean Fling of Bryan, sister Tracy Hookstra and husband, Charles of Allen; brother Robert Bevins and wife, Amy of Bonaire; sister Cherri Teutsch and husband, Clint of Lufkin; brother Robert Fling and wife, Julie of Katy. Nieces and nephews David, Elizabeth, Carianne, Calianne, Carolanne, Addison, Allison and Anna. Great nieces and nephews Caleb, Jacob, Bella, Warner and Natalie.

Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, David Bevins.

A family gathering to remember and celebrate Charlie will take place at Sam and Jean's lake home at Toledo Bend Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Fling,
My deepest and heartfelt condolences in the loss of Charlie. He was always such a sincere and helpful person. As an out-of-town patron to your store, I will surely miss coming in to Fling Jewelers. I am devastated to learn of his passing, and pray that God gives you some peace in your heart. Charlie was sweet and kind and sometimes a bit funny, but always secured the batteries in my scuba dive watch so that they never leaked. Charlie was always welcoming in the store and made each customer feel special. May you have peace and comfort in your souls. We were all blessed by knowing Charlie. I will truly miss the closing of your store. May God bless your family.

Hello Jean and Sam. I've just learned about Charlie's accident and I am so very sorry to hear the sad news. I went to the store on one of my trips back to Bryan and saw that the store is closed and have no way to get in touch with you. My daughter loves the pieces I bought for her that Charlie designed and she is devastated as well. I would love an email from you if possible. Bless you and your family to deal with this terrible tradegy.

Sam and Jean, I'm at a loss for words. Charlie was such a kind and gentle soul. I enjoyed watching him grow up when we were neighbors. He was always riding his 4-wheeler or just being outside and enjoying nature. May God wrap his arms around your family during this trying time.

I just found out that Charlie passed away . I am so sad. He was such a dear soul, and kindness and sincerity literally radiated from his eyes.

I´ve known Charlie since grade school, and his passing is truly a great loss to our class and community. When I would visit the jewelry shop, Charlie would show me his exquisite and unique designs. I was always blown away by his creativity and impeccable craftsmanship. Seeing Charlie was always such joy, and knowing him was an honor.

I speak on behalf of my entire family when I say, we will surely miss him.

With deepest sympathy

Please accept my sincere sympathy over this loss. I will always remember him sitting beside his dad at the store while his dad was talking to him , he would be deep in his thoughts of what he was creating or designing for that certain someone. May the family have the peace that he is now creating something spectacular for his creator.
