LEXINGTON%%Services for Charles Lindburgh Gantt, Sr, 77, of Lexington, will be held at 1pm Monday in the Fellowship Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. J. Roger Clark, with burial at Gibson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
Mr. Gantt died Saturday, May 1, 2004. Born in Lexington County, he was the son of the late Thomas Roston and Fairie Jeffcoate Gantt. Formerly of Fairview, he had been a resident here since 1952. Mr. Gantt was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, the Archie O’Daniels Sunday School Class and the Golden Fellowshipers of the church. He was retired from Allied Chemical Corporation. Mr. Gantt was a lifetime member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge #152 and was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy Gantt of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Gale and husband John “ Rick” Clegg of Lexington; sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck L., Jr. and Mary Gantt and Thomas Roston Gantt all of Lexington; sisters, Mary B. Rucker of Lexington, Cora Lee Selman of Seneca, and Margaret L. Rawls of West Columbia; 5 grandchildren, Amanda “Mandi” Maner, Charles L. Gantt, III, “Buddy”. John R. Clegg, Jr. “Jay”, J. Nicholas Gantt “Nicky”, Katherine C. Jones; and 4 great grandchildren, Charlsey Maner, Chandler Maner, Danielle Clegg, and Kyle Clegg.
