Charles Sterling Goff

GOFF, CHARLES STERLING, 91, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

C. Sterling Goff was born on March 16, 1921, in Louisville, KY to C. Sterling Sr. and Edna Mae Goff.

Sterling was a graduate of KMI, attended Northwestern University, and graduated from the University of Louisville. He was called up to military service in 1942 at the start of World War II, and spent four years fighting in North Africa and Europe. He received many commendations including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Sterling loved his family. His wife Jean was the love of his life. They were married 67 years. His "girls", Jeanie, Margaret and Melody gave his life meaning. He cherished his family.

Sterling's church, Shawnee Presbyterian, and God were held in highest reverence. He attended Shawnee from age 5 until his death, and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Sterling was God's faithful servant.

Sterling will be remembered as owner of Sterling Heating & Air Conditioning Company, an avid fisherman, a green thumb gardener, and a word puzzle master. He loved his stamp collection, which he had worked on over 80 years. Sterling always had an ongoing project. He collected everything. He loved to tinker.

Sterling's life was filled with friends. He had actively participated in church groups, Kiwanis, card clubs, work, Rehab, The Neighborhood, etc. Sterling was a generous man. He loved deeply. We will all miss him.

Sterling is survived by his wife, Jean; three daughters, Jeanie Hardin (Pat), Margaret Craft and Melody Davenport. He leaves five grandchildren, Patrick Hardin, Jr. (Melanie), Joey and Andy Craft, and Chuck and Kathryn Davenport; and five great-grandchildren survive.

His funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to take place in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday at Highlands.
