Not sure what to say?

My middle name is Charles after as I was named after Uncle Chuck. I have very fond memories of him. He gave me my first tie when I was maybe 10 to attend a funeral so I would be properly dressed. Taught me how to tie it too. It was an Oleg Cassini tie and was beautiful even to a 10 year old. Later I had to wear a tie for work bagging groceries in a store. I wore it at work and thought of Uncle Chuck daily.

We always enjoyed spending time with Uncle Chuck. He was a guy who enjoyed life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I remember spending time water skiing when I was young, and football games at St Johns. Chuck always had a story to share. Though we did not spend as much time with Chuck lately, we will miss knowing that he is up in Minnesota. No more getting together or seeing photos of he and Debra fishing or having a birthday party. Also, thanks to Debra for sharing your...

Incredibly thoughtful card from the VA staff: Serving One Who Served.

Cass and Amy, thank you for posting here. I am sad they don't have an option for "Caregiver" as you were so much more than "acquaintances" to my dad. You were like family. Thank you for your loving care for him.

It was an honor to spend these last 4 years with your dad. I was very saddened when I heard the news. My heart aches for the loss you are feeling at this time. I know he enjoyed everyday so very much, and even if it wasn't his best day, he would always crack a grin or laugh with us. He will truly be missed

I worked for years at a bank where Chuck used to visit. I always loved helping he and Merle when they came by. He was such a kind man and spunky, too! My condolences to his family. May he rest well.

My dad rode out on the tail of comet Neowise. I posted his obituary today on my facebook page. He has many fans there who have followed our escapades over the years and who have posted in support and loving memory of him. At the moment he has 73 Likes, Cares and Loves and 64 comments, including a friend who posted a photo of the Red Ox (Rofen Ochsen) in Heidelberg! Apparently it still exists. Dad must be in sheer delight right now. :)

It was an honor to know and care for Chuck, I loved his smile and spunky attitude. Even on a tough day, he could make me laugh with his witty comments and talking about Scally the cat. Your family is in my thoughts during this time.

You were one of the brave that answered the call. You honored us by your service and sacrifice. We now honor you each time we stand and sing the words “THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE”. Rest in Peace and Honor Charles.
