Spinelli - Ricciuti Funeral Home - Ansonia Obituary

SEYMOUR: Charles J. Guliuzza Jr., 81, of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2014, at CT Hospice in Branford following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Sampieri Guliuzza. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 26.
Mr. Guliuzza was born in Derby on Sept. 14, 1932, son of the late Charles Sr. and Angela Manfredi Guliuzza. A lifelong resident of Seymour, he began his high school education in Seymour and later transferred and graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven where he excelled in football. He went on to play football for Villanova University in Philadelphia. Charlie was the co-owner of Vaness Vending in Wallingford and later was the owner of Char-Mar Vending Services in Seymour until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking, welding and fabricating in his workshop. He was also very meticulous especially with his lawn and yard.
In addition to his wife Marge, he is survived by a loving son, Peter Guliuzza (June Biondi), a loving daughter, Angela Haddad (Ray Bartomeli) all of Seymour, two brothers, Theo Guliuzza of Trumbull and Joseph Guliuzza of Oxford, six cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Kenneth Haddad, Porsche and Taylor Matejek, Stephen Manillo Jr. and Amy Rodriguez, three great grandchildren, Evauna and Nikolas Matejek and Savannah Demers and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Charlene Manillo.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am with friends being asked to meet directly at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Homecare, 2 Trap Falls Road, Suite 408, Shelton, CT 06484 or through the funeral home.
