Read MoreI met Charles when we both worked in the public affairs department at McGraw-Hill. We had three more things in common: we both lived on the Upper West Side, we both grew up in central Massachusetts, and we both owned homes on Block Island. I enjoyed his company (and his cooking) and am sorry to learn that he is no longer with us.

To the Hamlin Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
