Anyone who played for Coach Hartman will never forget him. He had more energy than the average bear.

I never had the pleasure to meet Chuck myself but I heard all about him from the stories my dad would tell me about him. Chuck was my dads baseball coach for High Point University. My dad, Robert Dupree, told many stories about Chuck and how funny he was. My dad passed in June of 2019 and I know they´re United again probably with lots of talk of baseball.

I was lucky enough to have played for Coach at High Point in the early 60s. He treated all of us with great respect and much caring. He was the best. We all enjoyed our years with coach. Never a dull moment.

Coach Hartman was great coach, but an even better man. He provided the memories of a lifetime. He will be missed my more people than he would realize. He and Ellen were inseparable and their marriage was something we model ours off of. Love you coach!

We were extremely fortunate to know Mr. Hartman and to have him coach our son at VT. Not only was he a phenomenal coach but a mentor and role model as well. The memories and accomplishments he leaves behind will never be forgotten. RIP coach.

You don´t know me, but I´m the guy (umpire) who ejected Chuck in his first season with the Hokies. The photo appeared in the Va Pilot the next day. Throughout the years, we became friends, and always had the photo as a bond that made us both infamous. I was so sorry to hear of his passing, and only wish him eternal peace.

Coach Hartman was a great man and mentor to me at High Point College. A huge loss for those who knew him, a huge win for all in heaven.
