To the Head family:
I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Head. I have many great recollections from the 3 classes that I took from him. I especially remember his effective use of humor to enliven his classes. Such expressions as "Help! The paranoids are after me!" and "You, too, can be a Head of the class!" have always shined brightly in my memories.
Please know that your family is in my prayers. Mr. Head talked with such pride about all of you during class time and at our...

Mr. Head was a caring teacher who was concerned about all of his students. He even took the time to call my parents one time when I wasn't doing so well in his class. I always appreciated that thoughtfulness.

I was a student in Mr. Head class. One thing that I knew that if you did not understand his class he would do one on one and answers to make sure you understand everything.

What a fine and funny man - Mr. Head! I'll never forget how by the end of the day his clothes were always covered with chalk. He obviously loved science and inspired that in others.

Through my previous employment with the Museum of Natural History I had the occasion to hear from "Dr. Head" as he was affectionately known to several of us. We ran into each other one day at All's Good in Deep Ellum where he was having lunch with his grandsons and continued to stay in touch.
He was still very active in several areas concerning the environment and would call to let me know his latest endeavors. He was a wonderful and dedicated person who truly cared for his students...

Dear Peggy and Family,
What a pleasure it was to have known Mr. Head. I have frequently remembered him and described his techniques and talents to friends and colleagues. Teaching science and critical thinking appeared so completely effortless for him that we learned by osmosis. “Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” he said when we complained. He helped numerous students grow to be better people, and enjoyed every day doing it.

I always wodered where I got the saying "mind like a steel trap...rusted shut" Mr. Head was one of the few teachers who really seemed to care. He demanded a lot of a person, but it was "a good thing".My condolences to his family.
