Not sure what to say?

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Charlie was a treasure and his legacy lives on with his children. It must have been the late fifties/early sixties when my mom brought me to see Charlie...he had a very small space in the opticians office and I was fitted for my first pair of contact lenses. His knowledge and skill was such a blessing... my vision was very bad and my glasses were very thick. He was so kind and patient and thorough. He settled for nothing less than a perfect fit....

To the world of contact lenses,We have lost one of the true pioneers of contact lens design and fitting.I had the opportunity over the years to share lens design, fitting, and education on all aspects of contacts.
Charlie was a friend, and mentor, some one I will never forget.
Charlie taught me to visulize what I was building to fit a patient.
Charlie is in all of us old dogs whom fit contact lenses.
From may heart to Charlies,he was somthing special and I will never forget...

To Charlie's sons: Roy and I recall you two as youngsters when you lived in Innis Arden and we lived in Richmond Beach. How proud Charlie must have been when you both followed in his footsteps.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Beverley and Roy Funk

I am very sorry about the death Dr. Hovander, I read about it in the newspaper yesterday. May he rest in peace and, and the rest of your family regroup and heal from his absence. My sympathy for all the members of the Hovander family.

My sincere sympathy for your loss. Mr. Hovander fitted me for my first pair of contact lenses when I was in my early 20s. I moved to Alaska shortly after that, and never again (for the next 30 years) was able to find anyone who could fit contacts that were as comfortable. Although I only knew him as a patient/client, he was a very kind, talented man.

My deepest sympathy for your profound loss. I have fond memories of Charlie and think of him often. I remember shadowing him while in opticianry school and learned much of what I came to know of contact lens fitting from Charles. He was respected by opticians all over the country and loved by fellow professionals, friends and patients. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Charlie's many friends and relatives. He is/was a huge part of the history of opticianry in Washington state and nationally. He has left a legacy that will always be remembered.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I would like to send my condolences, Charles has been an inspiration to the optical world for years. As an optician I have encountered many people who have the fondest memories of him. We will all miss him.
