Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace old Buddy. Jay

In 2016, Charlie, Stu VanderWerp and I had resigned from Cascade and started playing 9 holes at various local golf courses. The golf was great, but the most fun was always the lunch after golf. One of Charlie's favorite spots was a little 'hole in the wall' restaurant in Lowell, named the "Backwater Grill"...Charlie called it 'cafe du monde'....and after ordering the latest cuisine (probably a ham sandwich) from "Sally", Charlie would say (with that wonderful boyish grin)...."I think she...

My deepest sympathy. When I was stationed at Cheyene, Wyo, In the 50's, Brother Charles was the regional sales manager for Swift Co. He would bring ice cream out to the airbase driving Range for the workers. He and I would then have unlimited baskets of balls. Charles coached me to change my left handed swing to right as left handed clubs were not always Available. Am glad he kept golfing his hobby as he helped so many people improve their Sport.

......so sorry to hear..... but next time we're in Wilton, we'll cruise main in Uncle Chuck's honor, then head to River Road with gravel flying....and watch the sunset over the Missouri River and think....what a great guy....love you all, Dianne and family

Dad, thanks for all the coaching, business tips and golf instruction! You will forever be on our shoulders with those great little tips: Full backswing, keep your head still, hit through the ball, finish your swing, strong left hand. And one general tip for life's knocks: It's just a bump in the road! Thanks for all love Dad!

Charlie was a great golfer with a deep passion for the game. I remember a round at Cascade when he got a hole-in-one on 17. He got such a kick out of that. We both quit CCC and teamed up for a weekly round of golf for the last couple years until health became a hinderance. He shared how much he enjoyed playing golf with his daughters and teaching them the game. So many times we reminisced over past games and good times with Glen Stuart. He was a great friend a will be greatly missed.

What a grand (in all senses of that word) guy. Over the forty years of wonderful times at Cascade to the last five years of nine holes and lunch with Stu, Charlie and me...great memories. The attached picture says it all...Dr. Bakeman, John Celestino and the Champ (he shot his age again that day I'm sure). Who can forget his favorite words on the tee..."where'd that one go?" He is the best!

I met Charley almost 70 years ago. He was our neighbor on Alger street. I thought he did play for Philadelphia for a short time. I recall how he demonstrated how to grip a curve, fastball and change... I have no idea why I remember that. R.I.P Charley, you made a difference.

Will surely miss a great guy, great golfer, and great friend. Rest in peace, Charlie
