I appreciate a second chance to send the family and other friends of the Hunnewell's my thoughts and feelings. Coach was a giant influence in my life during my junior high and high school days in Hanover. He was my coach , mentor, and a second "father" figure - working and playing together for common joy and goals. It was much more than sports, but through sport I learned and grew well. I sometimes regret that Coach offered me the opportunity to Coach under him at Hanover, but I took a...

I am very sad to learn about Coach Hunnewell's passing. He was an old-school coach in the best ways: dedicated, hardworking, fair, and consistent. He believed in me when I needed it the most and I will forever be grateful for the impact he had on my life. I only regret that we couldn't beat Lebanon in baseball, but his own boys and their friends were too good! Not surprising -they were taught by the best.

Mary & Ben and the whole Hunnewell family. We have found memories of your dad. Personally, I loved talking about basketball with him. I still remember the details of one conversation in particular. We're so sorry for your loss and wish you comfort in knowing you will see him again in heaven. Our love to all of you,

Coach Hunnewell was the first dominant adult figure in my life when I was timid 10th grader new to HHS and to Hanover in the early 70s. I conned my Dad into letting me go out for the football without consulting my mother. When I broke my arm on the Kickoff team amid the peak foliage of a Woodstock game the gig was up. Coach wouldn´t let me off not going to gym class and not being at practice. Instead assigned me a 20 page term paper on Field Hockey to broaden my perception of sports. I...
