Not sure what to say?

Raised in Louisville KY, my High School years were spent idolizing Charles's athletic abilities on the basketball court at UK. When I enlisted into the army and became a paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg NC, we were assigned to the same Military Intelligence unit and deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm together. I remember laughing and sharing so many memorable things about growing up in Kentucky, and now serving our country. I lost contact with Charles through the years and now saddened...

I went to UK when Charlie played. He was always, always friendly and never let his stardom go to his head. I will always remember him and his kindness and sportsmanship.

I was a cheerleader at UK during Charles' freshman year. He was always a gentleman and willing to carry on a conversation with anyone. He was one of the friendliest athletes I had the pleasure of meeting during my years at UK. As my children grew up to be athletes, I hoped that they would show the attributes on the field/court/floor that Charles did, so after telling them about him, they always chose either 4 or 44. I'm happy to say that they learned a lot from stories of Mr. Charles Hurt....

Charles Hurt was. Wonderful native do of Shelbyville Ky. A great human being. Rest in peace good & faithful servant✝

Charles had such a great sense of humor. I truly loved him. He will be missed by so many people. Especially his family, Mom dad sisters and his children. I will always have such fond memories of Charles. My heart is so broken today. Rest in peace now Charles. You fought a good fight.

I did not know Charles well, but remember passing him in the hallway at high school. He was well-known for his basketball abilities, of course. He seemed to always have a smile and to be a very kind person.

Great memories of Charles, we played little league football and basketball together. I was on the Shelby County Freshman Basketball team with Charles and moved to NC after my freshman year. I always kept up with him at UK. He was a gentle giant.
