1926-2015 Charles F. Lavin passed away August 7 at Taylor Hospice in Ridley Park, PA. He was 89 years old. Son of Charles and Nellie Lavin, he was born and raised in Aston, PA. He attended the Old Boothwyn High School and upon completion enrolled in Lincoln Prep in Philadelphia, PA. In 1943 he went to work for Dravo Ship Building in Wilmington, DE. That same year he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. Charles was in the landing division that hit the beach in the invasion of Okinawa aboard the A.K.A. - 63. After the war went back to school while building houses with his father. Later he got a job with Sun Oil Co. in the insulation department. Charles spent most of his 35 years at the Sun Research and Development Department and before retiring in 1982 was a qualified Chief Operator at 18 Plant. He was as interested in classic automobiles, enjoyed old movies especially John Wayne night. He is survived by one niece, Elizabeth Lavin of Claymont, DE, and one nephew, John Lavin of New Castle, DE. Calling shall take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 after 9 a.m. at the Kaniefski - Kendus - D’Anjolell Memorial Home, 3900 West Ninth Street, Trainer, PA, where as an 11 a.m. service shall also take place. Interment Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association
