Not sure what to say?

As an Ohio State grad in 1963 my first job was in the Interior Design Studio at Lazarus. It was a wonderful place to work and VERY work friendly. Everyone, who worked there was family. From the Studio, to the Lighting, carpet, mattress, home decor etc.etc we were all buddies. I shouldn't say this..but one of the guys in the mattress dept. had a bookie.LOL! He was very popular to say the least!! Especially, around KY. Derby time. Met Mr. Lazarus a few times and what a kind gentleman he...

Lazarus will always the model store for department stores. How fortunate I was to be able to go to Lazarus with friends and family, shop the many departments and reminisce about the great bargains there. Peggy, you may not remember me, but we were confirmed together at Temple Israel. May Charles soul and being be a blessing to us all for honesty and integrity.

Stu, Wendy, Peggy and all - He was like no one else I have ever known; it was a privilege beyond words to work for him. His unending generosity, zest for life, spirit, sense of humor and commitment to family, community, and Lazarus "associates" are just some of his incredible legacy. He was truly the rarest of gems.

I was a Lazarus Associate twice as a Holiday extra back in the '50's. I really enjoyed working downtown in the store that I so admired as a child when my parents would bring us children down from Marengo, OH to look at the fairy- like window dressings and it made Christmas seem so exciting, watching the snow fall and seeing Santa and the elves working away on "our" presents.

Mr Charles and I had bilateral knee replacements by a locally famous doctor on the same date and we occupied...

TO THE FAMILY OF MR. CHARLES Y. LAZARUS
MR. LAZURAS WAS A KIND AND THOUGHFUL PERSON AND HE WILL BE MISSED. THE 18 YEARS I WORKED FOR HIM AT HIS HOME WERE ENJOYABLE. I JUST LOVE WORKING THE ROSE GARDEN FOR HIM. THE CONVERSATIONS I HAD WITH HIM MADE ME A BETTER PERSON.
MY WIFE AND I ENJOYED THE FOOTBALL TICKETS HE GAVE US, AS WELL AS THE OTHER KIND DEEDS.
WE SEND PEACE AND LOVE TO THE FAMILY.AND IF THEIR IS ANY THING WE CAN DO JUST CALL US. {614) 252-4833

In 1955 I was working as an "extra" in the traffic department and as I was unpacking some merchandise made a comment to a coworker about not understanding why Lazarus did something. Mr. Charles happened to be walking by and took the time to explain to me the reason. It always impressed me that he took the time to do that to a 16 year old extra. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.

My Mother worked for Lazarus for 25 years. Mr. Charles was running the Organization at that time. My Mother and every one in her department thought there was only one person who cared for them and looked after the store, Mr Charles will be greatly missed by all.
As well as the wonderful Lazarus legacy.
