Dick was proud of his navy service and never tired of telling about his many crossings of the South Pacific aboard the USS Monitor. Following a brief courtship of six dates, he married the love of his life, Teddy Jean Kiser on April 7, 1947 in DeQueen, Arkansas. Dick was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Co. The young couple spent the next five years on a working, traveling pipeliner adventure. Dick and Teddy returned to Ft. Towson to care for his father and assume his fathers rural mail route. Towson Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Lion's Club and the Ft. Towson Masonic Lodge #303. He enjoyed helping his brother, Neal in the meat market at Loar's Grocery Store in Ft. Towson. Dick took pride in his skill as a gardener as well as the food his garden produced. He also loved raising cattle. Teddy helped him name each member of his herd.
