Charles A. "Chuck" Loring III, 73, formerly of Gloucester, MA, recent resident of North Haven Island, ME, and Jupiter, FL, passed away peacefully April 17, 2015, surrounded by his family. Chuck is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Karen Siegl; sons, Charles "Chip" A. Loring IV (Michelle) of Boca Raton, FL, Jonathan "Jon" W. Loring (Lucy) of Rockport, MA; nephew, Wesson "Adam" A. Loring Jr. (Brenda) of Gloucester, MA; three grandchildren, Eliza, Annie, and Graham Loring; and grandnieces, Evie and Mamie Loring. Born in Boston, Chuck was the son of the late Charles "Charlie" A. Loring, Jr. and Ruth Adams, and older brother to the late Wesson A. Loring. Chuck was a longtime Gloucester resident, growing up in Annisquam, MA, attending Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, Gloucester High School, and finally, Norwich University in Vermont. After college, Chuck served in the United States Coast Guard and upon discharge joined the family pharmaceutical business. Chuck co-founded Poly-Drug, Inc. of Boston, a toxicology laboratory. He was later hired by Smith Kline and acted as one of their first National Sales Managers. He was instrumental in opening many sleep laboratories for University Services, in the Philadelphia area. Overall, he enjoyed a thirty-year career in the medical industry. In 1974, Chuck purchased the Annisquam Market and Marina, which he co-owned for over 25 years. He was an avid hockey player and mariner during his youth. Chuck was a member of the Annisquam Yacht Club, and enjoyed sailing the New England coast and fishing in Ipswich Bay with family and friends. He was an active member of the AMVETS, Elks, the Moose Lodge and could often be found reminiscing with friends at the American Legion. His love for NASCAR took him to many races and he served as sponsor host to the fans. During the summer months after retirement, Chuck and Karen enjoyed the tranquility of the Sampson Farm on North Haven Island and spent their winters in Jupiter. Chuck will be remembered for his good-natured sense of humor, wittiness, outgoing personality, sparkling blue eyes, and genuine fondness for those around him. All who loved him will dearly miss him. Memorial service on Monday, May 25 2015 at 11:00AM at Riverside Memorial Park, 1935 County Line Road, Tequesta, FL.
