CHARLES "CHUCK" MacNAMARA

Although I only got to know Chuck at the end of his life during our occasional Thursday lunches at Kasdon's Family Restaurant, his charisma and vast knowledge on a spectrum of subjects will stay with me in my heart. He will not be forgotten.

I worked with Chuck on The Daily Pennsylvanian at Penn in the 'Fifties. Even in college he was already a professional: a great writer, an equally good editor and someone who could be relied on, whatever the challenge. Despite having to haul himself up the several flights of steps to the DP offices wearing a leg brace from polio, he never complained. It's good that he's beyond all that now and enjoying his well-deserved reward.
