Not sure what to say?

Sorry for your loss. I was curious about former pastors with whom I had known and admired. I remember babysitting Doug and Tim when they were about 10 and 8. I remember they had a German Shepherd. I liked the retreats Pastor Mayer took us Luther Leaguers on.

I knew Pastor Mayer in two capacities. He was my junior catechism teacher at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Warren, Ohio, when I was in the seventh grade. On behalf of Cap Connections Continued at Capital University, we write to express the sympathy of Emeriti/Emerita and retirees who shared Charles's ministry and that of Nancy and Starr. Starr, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of grief and celebration of his life. He will surely be missed by many who loved him.

Charles was always on the side of love in our discussions in Men's Group. I miss his wisdom.

Starr, We were so sorry to read of Charles' death in today's Daily Press. I know you must miss him terribly - his humor, his compassion, his very presence. Our prayers are with you and your family as you mourn his passing. Bill and Cheryl Corvello, The Chamberlin, Fort Monroe, VA
