My condolences, CJ is well remembered for our times at and around Memorial in the late '60's.

Dan St. Pierre stated it so right on: a South Manchester legend. Our sincere condolences to everyone. As the former next-door neighbor to the Mahoneys, I met "Uncle Charley" who was very generous to kids in the neighborhood when he visited. Likewise, CJ generously shared his enthusiasm and knowledge for sports though his talents in journalism. He went on to write for a long time for the very newspaper that many of us trudged through the snows to deliver. I agree with Dan St. Pierre: CJ...

So sorry to hear of your passing. As a neighbor when we were kids you were always around to play in the streets and on the playground with the other kids around the block. Lots of great memories around the Purchase Street area as you were definitely a great part. Rest in peace my friend.

Went to Memorial with CJ. Remember him always around our south end sports scene during our growing years. Most recently a neighbor to my auto repair business. Rest in peace CJ.

CJ was a good guy who I knew since childhood. Another "South end Legend". He knew everyone and was always around at places and activities. He will be missed.

I came to know CJ while he was writing for the Leader back in the 70's and I was playing for Central. His articles were always on point, accurately described, and fair. Last time we spoke was at my Dad's service and he was his friendly genial self. He will be missed.
