Charles McCloud Obituary

Charles Earl "Cork" McCloud, 71, resident of Madison and former resident of Kirtland, died July 12, 2018 at Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1946 in Cleveland.
Cork was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was also a proud member of the Marine Corps League. He was a Free and Accepted Mason, with the Willoughby Lodge No. 302. Cork was a Kirtland High School Football fan, and loved going out to eat. His greatest joy though was spending time with all seven of his grandchildren. Cork was a very generous man and a friend to all. He loved Chinese food, Slyman's, and McDonald's senior coffee. Cork was the goofiest man you could ever have met, but always had a heart of gold. He lived life to the fullest. In seven short weeks, an aggressive form of cancer stole him away from all of us.
Cork was an Operating Engineer, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a trade union representing primarily construction workers who work as heavy equipment operators.
He is survived by his son, Adam (Marie) Shannon; daughters, Lisa (Gaetano) Savelli and Heidie (Damian) Stolowski; grandchildren, Mia, Gaetano, Eva, Lila, and Gabriel Savelli, and Cora and Clara Stolowski; brothers, Bob (Geri) and Melvin (Dolly); and nephews, Tommy and Wayne (Wendi) McCloud, and Zip and Zac Howser.
He is predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Betty McCloud; and brother, Thomas.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home
12524 Chillicothe Rd. Chester Twp. Celebration of Life, 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial at Kirtland South Cemetery.
Cork's children would like to thank the VA Medical Center for all the comfort and care they provided to their daddy. If you wish to make a donation in Cork's name, please do so to either of his favorite organizations, The Marine Corps League, Attn: Col. Chambers, 8720 Twinbrook Rd., Mentor, OH 44060 or to the Kirtland High School Football Team, 9150 Chillicothe Rd, Kirtland, OH 44094.

I had the opportunity to often meet with and talk to Mr. McCloud at an abundance of Savelli dance recitals his grand daughters and my daughters danced at over the years. Always friendly and great to talk to. Always came across as a super guy. He will be missed.

Mr. McCloud was my coach. I had the privilege to play on Charlie's Angels Basketball team. His influence on my life was profound, I am the person I am today because of him. I know so many of my teammates would say the same thing. The memory's of playing on Charlie's Angels will always hold a dear place in my heart and having you as my coach. Thank you for the impact you have had on my life.
Rest In Peace. -Tree

We are so shocked and sorry to hear of your loss. We will keep your entire family in our thoughts and prayers. Always enjoyed the times we got to see him over the years and all the teasing that went on about Cat machines. Also loved to talk to him about his and our Pits. He was a good man.
