Charles McGinn Obituary

McGINN Charles R. McGinn Sr., age 87, of Blacklick, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Eva McGinn, daughter Joan Green, mother Beatrice Hunsicker, father Edward McGinn and brother Edward John McGinn, great-grandchildren Robert Spies and Damian Higginbotham. Charles is survived by children, Tom Higginbotham (Cindy Lyle), Mary Ellen Foster (Charles), Chuck McGinn, Jr. (Tondra), Jack McGinn (Jeanine), Debbie Moore (Bill), Mike McGinn (Dee), Becky Davis, and Melody Kramer (Tom); 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. Charles served in the Navy during WWII upon graduating from high school. He went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for North American Aviation from 1953-1968 as a Hydraulic Engineer. He left and went to work for Jaeger Manufacturing "mining equipment," where he was a design engineer for 5 years. Afterwards he worked at OSU Hospital as a facility director where he retired after 16 years. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at BEECHER RD.), Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in may be made to Neurotology Research Fund #309444, Department of Otolaryngology, OSU Foundation, 1480 W. Lane Ave., Columbus, OH 43221. Our condolences to the McGinn Family. What a wonderful Patriarch you had and a special treasured friend we had. We have great memories of the good times with Weeze and Eva and their family.
