Charles Anthony McIntyre Sr.

Thanks to all who attended our services for Charley, the wonderful celebration of his life at the Seattle Tennis Club, and for the Memorial Row in Charley's honor Nov. 16, 2008.

We all miss Charley terribly. Life will certainly not be the same without him. He was a real character to all and a loving man to his family and friends. I miss him every day!

My fondest memories of Charlie where during the Neighborhood years growing-up on capitalhill. He taught me how to row single sculls and later with becoming a ski instructor.Charlie's patience and kindness during those years are the principles I remember most and carry with me to this day. God bless you Charlie.

My memories of Mr. McIntyre (since I am his daughter Maura's friend, this is how we referred to him) involve skiing and the beginnings of Alpental ski area in 1968. His friends at the time scouted out all the possible sites for Alpental and decided on the valley where it now sits. He was known as a great skier and instructor. I shall always picture him at the Goldener Adler condos up there. What great times we all had on the slopes of Alpental!

Bobo was special to all of our family (Joey's kids) and will be missed. His legacy will not only be in his contribution to rowing but in his principles and approach to life that will be fostered through his children and their children...He did so much for my Dad and Shannon...A true gentleman and a real warrior!

It was with a note of sadness that I read of Charley's passing. I only knew him for a very short period of time but he impressed me enough that I have never forgotten him.

It was in 1951 and Charley was the playground director at Brighton Playfield in South Seattle. I was playing on a 14 and under team from Van Asselt Playfield and we played several games and practiced at Brighton on occasion. Charley was the umpire for those games and he did an absolutely outstanding job. He was...

I had the destinguished priviledge of being the coxswain for Charley and the other three U.S. octogenarians at the 2007 FISA World Master's Regatta in Croatia. He was an inspiration, being committed to the sport at 83, as I'm sure he was in his younger years. I will cherish the memory.

We had a great time talking with Charley over a nice holiday visit near Philadelphia several years ago. He was visiting some of his old Philly "haunts," and we were visiting our extended family. He, "young Charley," and Elaine stopped at Mom and Dad's house. He was a warm, fun, charismatic gentleman with lots of fun stories to share, and he shared them with gusto. Warm regards to all of his family and those who loved him ~~

I met Charlie in Seattle through his son Charlie. It is safe to say Charlie lived life in a large way. He was very proud of his family and loved rowing. He took me to his home and shared the view of the Sound and you could tell he was in his element. He is probably already organizing a crew in heaven.

I don't remember ever meeting Charley although I think I might've been a wee-one. I wish I'd known him better. On to the next life Charley, I'll see you there.
