As a longtime friend of Charlie's from his Marshall Street, Hempstead days, I (and others from the block) formed close friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Charlie was a 'cool' guy, well-liked, loyal and outgoing. He went on to do important work at the local, state and federal levels, and improved the lives of thousands. Charles was a wonderful person who was dedicated to providing quality housing for those most in need. He will be greatly missed. I was proud to be his friend and colleague for 30 years. My sincere condolences to his family. Paula Sarro
