As a longtime friend of Charlie's from his Marshall Street, Hempstead days, I (and others from the block) formed close friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Charlie was a 'cool' guy, well-liked, loyal and outgoing. He went on to do important work at the local, state and federal levels, and improved the lives of thousands.
