I first met Charlie at a Penn orientation camp in September, 1953 where we and 150 other incoming freshman collected to start our college days. A lasting output of that event was a Class yell; "Quaker men will long recall, '57 best of all". Today, we can modify that to " '57 will long recall, Charlie Meredith, best of all"

Charlie was truly one of a kind. Journalist, rower, joke teller, politician and the only editor/publisher who always wore a bow tie.





I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He was a very
good friend of mine although we hadn’t spoken for many years. Please accept my sympathy.

i had the privilege of serving on the AAA Board of Directors with Charlie for about 35 years. When he was introduced as a new director it became immediately obvious that this was a very, very special man. Over the years we probably played 30 plus rounds of golf...most notably and most fun in a foursome of Meredith, Greenblat, LaVelle and Adams. I remember those glorious days with great pleasure as if they were yesterday. Our duties often involved travel and Pam and I were always so...
