Not sure what to say?

It seems that I´ve lost way too many of my friends & coworkers these days. RIP, Charlie!

Rest in peace my fellow coach & friend!

Charlie was my track coach when I was in the sixth grade at Whittier. He was always a great coach and great man with the greatest family of all. He will be missed by all.

Coach Merrifield was a Montana Track legend. I looked forward to seeing his smiling face anytime we were on the Butte Track for a meet. I was so saddened to learn of his passing. May his memory, his contribution to the lives of his athletes, and his love for the sport, forever be honored in Montana Track and Field. Laura Daniel-Arthun

Rest in Power Coach! Coach Merrifield picked me out as a scrawny freshman at East Jr High and turned me into a track athlete - a 1st team all-state and Bob O'Malley award winner. What a tremendous man. Not just coaching, but consistently initiating conversations about life, family, girlfriends, football, basketball, church, cruising Harrison - whatever. What a great gift he was to Butte kids! Cherishing memories of him and thank you Merrifield family for sharing him with us. John...

Sympathy, prayers and best wishes to all who loved Charlie, a Butte legend.

A memorable obituary for a very memorable man.

Sympathies and prayers on the death of Charlie and his loving family. Brother John Dornbos

I called Mr Merifield and asked him if he could give me a few pointers on how to approach the 200m at the MT State Hames in Billings . He offered to do a training session and met me at East Jr High track , it was 1995 I was 35 , he brought blocks and gave me a free pair of brand new spikes , timed me for two repeats , explained getting out of the blocks and how to run a good corner . Above and beyond is how I would describe his kindness . I got Silver 23.9 . Thanks Mr Merrifield , love you ....
