Dr. Merryman was superman. He could always make us feel better, whether he gave a shot, antibiotics, or just explained why things were not working right. We would always feel better upon leaving. I remember when my dad was dying Dr. Merryman came by to visit him, and we all found comfort in his visit. He came by the hospital to visit my mom when she wasn't even his patient. Dr. Merryman was my doctor for many years. I was deeply saddened when he could no longer practice at the New Market Clinic. I grew to love him and his quiet caring way. Doc was not only a friend, brother in Christ, doctor, yet he was also a Hero. Doc not just believed in Christ he lived Christ's love for people. I love him and his family deeply and was honored to call him a friend. God Bless his family and friends as he touched many people across North Alabama and across this country.

My family and I were sadden to hear of Dr. Merryman's death. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as I know this is the most difficult time. He was a good man, and a great doctor. He cared for our entire family during his whole time in the New Market area. His time spent in New Market will be remembered for many years to come. Dr. Merryman was a great friend and doctor to my family. He and my father (Bill Tallent) were friends for well over 40 years. There are many great stories of the doctors office and the home office visits we had. No matter what time of the day or night, if you were sick, he would tend to you. He was always there, either in the office or at home. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.

Dr. Merryman was not only a great doctor to the Jacks' family, but also one of the best friends my Daddy, Rufus Jacks, had. Please accept our condolences and our prayers and thoughts are with you.
