Not sure what to say?

Charlie will always be remembered for the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act that was the first collective bargaining bill for California public workers.

And you could always get a legislative roster from Charlie.

Alene and Family,
You have my true condolences. How happy I was to see Charlie's sincere smile and outstretched hand (with or without the gum). He was always so lucky to have you by his side too. Though I know you will miss Charlie, I hope you are able to rejoice in the fact that you have had a great run with him. God Bless,
John Wertz

Charlie was a great friend and neighbor. We will miss his phone calls and our children will miss his generous gift of gum. He was so enthusiastic, so positive, and so appreciative of life, his family and his friends. May Charlie rest in peace. With love, Nancy & F.X. Crowley, Jill, Bob, Kerry & Meg

We will always remember Charlie's big smile and phone conversations reminding us of upcoming events to attend. It was hard to leave these parties without a pocket full of gum (and silverware...kidding).
May blessings be bestowed upon you, Alene, for the years of loving caretaking. You know Charlie is with the Lord and at peace.
Love & PEACE,
Mary Beth & George Patterson

My thoughts and prayers are with you Alene and the family. charlie was like a brother to me all these years.
I find myself at a loss for words to express what I am feeling, God give you the strength during this difficult time.
Chuck Ayala and family

Alene & Family,

Organized Labor has lost a great friend especially those in the public sector who because of Charlie, have collective bargaining rights. Alene, you know as a R.N. and Teamster Local 856 member, that our thoughts and prayers are with you. A special remembrance is being posted on your Local Union's website: ibt856.org

Charlie was one of a kind, a true San Franciscan and one of the last real gentlemen, I will always remember him fondly at the many events I have seen him at over the past 30 years, Bubble Yum gum will go out of business without him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Alene and his family, SF will never be the same. Christine Costello

Charlie was a good man. An old school pol who cared for so many people for so long. They don't make 'em like Charlie Meyers anymore. God Bless...and thanks for the gum.
