Charles passed away in March 2018. Charles was a resident of Doylestown, Pennsylvania at the time of passing. He earned a Master's degree from Columbia University and wrote his thesis on English poet Edward Young in 1953. He enlisted with the navy in WWII and flew with the Night Torpedo Squadron 53 as an aerial gunner in Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bombers. As a member of the Gunroom, I always appreciated Charles's witty, intelligent posts and his insights into not only Patrick O'Brian's books, but other areas of life.
