Charles "Dewey" Novak

Dewey created a Russian Dancing Troupe at Ely Memorial High School in the late 1950's. I was one of many participants in the troupe. The group was invited to appear on "The Dotty Becker Show", broadcast live in Duluth, and performed at other high schools as well. His enthusiasm for directing the dancers made the experience memorable and enjoyable. He was a likeable individual. I graduated with his sister Carol in 1961. Oh my -I am so sorry to hear this. Though I haven't seen Dewey in years, he was a wonderful memory of our childhood. I remember him organizing parades around the block and being a fun leader! On a trip to San Francisco, as I walked up a hill near Ghiradelli Square I glanced to my right and there sat Dewey and his mom and dad. The highlight of the trip. To Carol and his family , I am so sorry but wonderful memories you have. Also really hated seeing those articles in the Echo come to an end.
