Dr. Charles E. Noyes

To the family of Dr. Noyes,

My deepest sympathy for the loss of my dearest friend Charles Noyes

I will always remember the wonderful dinners and most of all your wonderful stories that we all enjoyed with Dr. Noyes and Mother (Willie Hume Bryant) every Sunday.

I'm sorry I did not get to say good-by to you. I will miss you so very much. Thank you for being my friend You were so kind and loving to me.

I was a student of Dr. Noyes many years ago, and I was very fortunate to consider myself a friend for years after that. To be able to be a friend, to call him Chuck, was such a privilege. To see him whenever I visited Oxord was a joy. His dedication to the Ole Miss library was something that gave sustenance to many devoted readers whom he had encouraged over the years and to others who never knew him. We will all miss him.

As a teacher, Dr. Noyes shared his favorite quotations with others. I am pleased to share some of my favorites in his honor.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your father. He was a good friend to me for almost 20 years. I will miss our long talks and the letters we exchanged over the years. He was a treasure who will always remain with us in our memories.

Dr. Noyes was a fine gentleman. I worked with him for several years on the OLE MISS yearbook, he as the advisor, I as the printer. I enjoyed our relationship. My prayers are with the family. Norman E.Shaw
