“Love lift us up where we belong, where the eagles cry, on a mountain high… far from the world we know…the road is long, there are mountains in the way, but we climb a step every day…” – Nitzche, Saint-Marie, Jennings

Not sure what to say?

Mr Ouellette was my physics teacher at Duluth East and I believe I was his worst student but he taught me enough to understand the basics for accident investigations which aided me greatly in my 30 year law enforcement career. Thank you Mr Ouellette for your guidance and patience. Rest In Peace sir. Deputy Art Winkelman, retired, St Louis County Sheriff’s Department Duluth, MN

Mr. Oulette was remembered by many Duluth East High School classmates from the class of 1963. We have been emailing each other during the last several weeks. Here are the reminiscences we have shared in the last several weeks:

Mary
Good to hear from you and thank you for keeping us informed.
I have pasted below a recent Duluth News Tribune, obituary for Charles Ouellette, who was our 11th grade Physics teacher at East.

When I was growing up one of my best friends was son Mike. I was always at the Ouellette house. I regarded Chuck as a second father to me. I remember him with his uniform on getting ready to leave for work. Laser focused. I didn't really understand it until later. Then when he retired how much time he spent with his family. We used to constantly play basketball in the driveway. On sleep overs he would teach us how to play poker. I was always fascinated with how he kept his money in his...

Mr. Ouellette, my physics teacher, Duluth East, 1963. I recall he feigned not remembering famous scientists' first names. "Kepler. ... J Nicholas Kepler!" It was always J Nicholas. It was always fun.

While teaching analytic geometry, he said "Class, see that tree out that window? Mathematics can describe that tree." Wow! I tried to buy the textbook.

It was in his class that I learned President Kennedy was shot. Mr. Oullette sat silent in disbelief, shaking his head while...

Mr. Ouellette, affectionately known as "Charlie O." by my classmates and me, was my teacher for two years of physics courses at Duluth East High School in the mid-1960's. I looked forward to his class sessions because he regularly had engaging demonstrations of physics principles. He also had a great sense of humor. I still remember when he introduced Evangelista Torricelli, the 17th century inventor of the barometer, as a Japanese foreign exchange student studying in Italy. Charlie O. was an...

To the Ouellette family: Charley was a old friend I flew with in the 179th and at Pan Am. A great pilot and a nice friend. Sorry for your loss.

Carol, Im so sorry to hear about your loss. Sending prayers of support, peace and understanding....I have gone through the same experience, Clarence has been gone for six years. Take care of yourself. Love, Lucille Sharpe Couture

Mr. Ouellette was an exceptional teacher in my formative years. He instilled in me a love for learning that continues to this day. To be in high school and look forward to going to school and learning physics says it all. He will continue to live on through his students and his students students. My deepest sympathy for his family. Duluth East class of 1966 student.

Dear Ouellette Families: My deepest and heartfelt condolences to all of you in the passing of Chuck. He was a wonderful Man, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. You and Carol raised a beautiful family. My late husband (Tom Leone) and I were especially honored when Mike said he would be our oldest daughters Godfather. Chuck has wings now and will forever be watching over all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time.
