Not sure what to say?

In Manzanita, with wife Jane (our sister)

One of the many unique features of Gary's persona was his intense interest in all types of music (except maybe country and western!). He had an immense library of recorded music. I believe he used it every day. We enjoyed his recitation of music origins very much!

Gary was a dear friend and true mentor. He was one of my Father's best friends, a great man, great example for other men. Gary was brilliant, kind, funny, hilarious actually, and irrepressible. I miss him already. Gary, thanks for always speaking to me with such respect and kindness, even when I was such a naive young fool.

My deepest condolences to Erik and the Peterson family. My friendship with Gary goes back some 45 years, to the early 70s. We were both active in SEAO and ASCE and I was fortunate to work with him on several consulting projects. Moreover, for many years he contributed extensively to the Forensic Structural Engineering course that I teach at PSU. Gary was a great friend, a true professional, and I very much enjoyed being around him, talking about engineering, jazz, blues, and classical music....

Gary was such a personality, such a bright light. I will forever hold a picture of him at our piano, following the close of the Christmas Revels, regaling us with music and charm. So grateful to have known him.

Gary was such a presence in the Cedar Mill Community. We will miss his smile, and seeing him driving around in his powder blue convertible. Keep on making music.

We will miss Gary, his bigger than life presence, warm smile, his humor, his uniqueness. Gary loved his family, friends and his music with a passion.
What a joy to have had him in our lives!
Our thoughts are with all the family..

As a long time engineering association and as a part-time musician I enjoyed my times with Gary. The world will miss his talents and contributions. Good bye from Mark & Sally Wirfs.
