Thirty-seven years ago. A security violation with extenuating circumstances. Months of paperwork. Conflicting opinions. Charlie, very ill but always careful, caring and considerate, took time to write, "Couldn't we find a way to show this man some mercy?" Only then did Charlie leave his office for the surgery that saved his life. Charlie's question won the day. I have never forgotten, nor shall I. Blessings and RIP, Charlie.

He was the essence of a true American. We will miss his wit and humor, not to mention his laugh. You're in or hearts forever. He was a great uncle to me.
