Not sure what to say?

One of my favorite memories of Charles revolves around his generosity of spirit. I was a graduate assistant for him and he turned to me during the first class session in front of all the students and asked me what I thought we should do together. I thought about it for a second and then I realized I could say nothing and just turn it back to him or I could take his lead and tell him what I really thought. So we divided the class into four different groups based on what we both perceived they...

My condolences to the family of Chuck Pomeroy. Chuck was my Godfather. We had lost touch in later years. I regret that I was not there to support him. He has, and will always be, in my thoughts.

Dr. Pomeroy was an exceptional human. I had the pleasure of learning from him in 1993 and 1994 while attending CSULB. His passion for English literature is what inspired me to pursue a Masters Degree in English and become a teacher. I have thought about him often. I work hard to encourage my students in the same way Dr. Pomeroy always motivated me. I send my condolences to his family. -Grateful Former Student

To Dr. Charles Pomeroy's loved ones and family, I offer my continued condolences on the loss of Charles. He will always remain a special part of all those he touched.

It saddens me to find that Dr. Charles Pomeroy has passed away. I worked with him as his graduate assistant at CSULB. He treated me as his equal, making space in his cramped office for me to have my own space. He opened doors for me, by trusting me with sharing the Writing Adjunct Program responsibilities with me. His wit, humor, brilliance, and kindness left a lasting impression with me, and I count him as one of my most important mentors and guides. He encouraged me and inspired me, and...

You were an inspiration to your students and my late husband Prof Jerome Manheim always thought you were a suburb teacher.

He was a very funny conservative person that didn’t like to take to much medicines and his favor word was BM in medical field that make all of us laugh even what he was going through . My deepest condolence to family and special thanks for Margaret John mrs Linda and Gena for being there providing care and love to him so he knew and felt your love toward him

I have many good memories of Charles in our early days at Californiat State University, Long Beach. We shared a love of music and went to concerts together, and remember his children when they were young. I send my condolences and fond memories to his family.

Dear Linda,
I was very sad to learn of Charles’s passing. When I was a new faculty member in the English department at CSULB decades ago, Charles made me feel welcome. He was kind and encouraging—just the sort of person one would hope that students would be interacting with. The department is richer for being able to count him among its members. I feel fortunate to have known him.
