SSgt. Charles Rhodes

My Uncle Charlie was an amazing man. His physical issues never kept him down and he always kept his sense of humor. I loved knowing him and communicating with him throughout the years. I miss him, his brother Dave and my mom. That Rhodes generation has passed the torch.
In his last years, I asked him to share family lore and his stories were always touched with humor. I have his letters put away and I will cherish them until I pass and leave them for my children to enjoy.

Met Charlie for the first time when I went to work for DLA and DDMP in 1983 while still in college. Charlie was Chief of Computer Operations and ran the daylight shift, and I was working as a student intern within the Office of Telecommunications and Data Systems as a computer programmer. I spent my first month in a rotational assignment in Computer Operations, so I had the opportunity to interactive with him on a daily basis. Lots of stories and lots of laughter. Great sense of humor. ...

I absolutely LOVED working with Charlie for the last two years. We golfed a lot. He always had a hat for every golf course he played at. All of his stories and funny jokes will forever be remembered. Charlie will definitely be missed. What an incredible man he was and I'm so thankful I got to know him. Thoughts are with the family!
