McKinney, Texas
Nov 19, 1944 – Mar 21, 2019 (Age 74)
Charles Paul Richardson passed away Thursday, March 21st, 2019 at age 74. "Chuck" was born on November 19, 1944 in Sherman, TX. His family lived on Camp Howze military installation near Gainesville, TX for his first years, but then moved to Lawton, OK where he spent his childhood days, graduating from Lawton High School in 1963. He was an ROTC cadet at Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Banking and Finance degree in 1967. He then served in the US Army; 1LT Richardson received an Honorable Discharge after serving as a Finance Officer at Yuma Proving Ground, AZ.
Chuck spent the next 5 years working for the Lincoln Mercury division of Ford Motor Company helping them expand their business in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. His family then relocated to Plano, TX where he began a new venture opening a local men's clothing store in 1975, Rich's for Men. In 1982, Chuck began his 30+ year career as a builder and, in 1984, he founded DoubleTree Construction Company which specialized in renovations, custom homes, land development, and commercial properties in the Dallas area.
In 1983, he saw hope in a break-through medical technology that was on the verge of being scrapped. The medical device was a high frequency ventilator that could produce life-saving oxygen to patients with fragile lungs. Chuck formed a small partnership to rescue the project. The high-frequency ventilator became a tremendous success and newer versions of their technology are still used globally in hospitals today, credited with saving the lives of countless pre-term infants.
He served in many charitable and civic capacities including the Chairman of the Plano Chamber of Commerce twice, Vice Chairman of the Economic Development Corporation, President and founder of the Plano West Rotary Club, President of the Collin County Cancer Society, board of the Geriatric Wellness Center, and President of the Juvenile Diabetes Association of Collin County. He was an active member at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, TX where he with his wife, Linda, designed and constructed the water fountains for the church Columbarium where he will be laid to rest.
He loved golf, travel, and most importantly: family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Linda Richardson; daughters Cherie (Jeff) Landrum, Shannon (Gregg) Kastman, Jami (Wayne) Pierce, and Brooke (Jason) Myers; grandchildren Paige, Trevor, Peyton, Olivia, Jack, Ethan, Abigayle, and Greydon; brother Monte (Barbara) Richardson, and several beloved cousins, nieces, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Adolphus and Mildred Richardson and his sister Jackye (Carl) Strating.
The celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 11am at Christ United Methodist Church (3101 Coit Rd, Plano, TX 75075). The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Chuck's name to Christ United Methodist Church.
So sorry to hear of this Linda, he was a stand up guy, he´ll be missed!

Chuck and I grew up together. We went to Tomlinson Jr. High and Lawton Sr. High School. I remember his father was a principal. I just discovered he had passed. I ran accross this by accident

What a wonderful friend Chuck was to both of us. We shared so many fun times together but I think the most memorable was when a large group of us went to Cabo just a few years ago. So so much fun, laughs, yummy food & drinks. Chuck could tell some of the funniest jokes. We would all laugh til our sides would hurt. But the most wonderful thing about Chuck was his forever love for Linda. Their hearts will always be one❤.
