I have great memories of traveling with Charlie to road races in the early days of the GNATS. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.

Larry, one of the memories I have of you is when Fred and I drove you to the airport when you were headed over seas while in the CIA. You wore a black suit and tie with a white shirt and a brief case in your hand. If you were suppose to be inconspicuous, well, you weren’t at all. We asked what was in your brief case and you said “my tennis clothes and racket”. Fred loved you as a brother in law and always spoke highly of you!

Having joined the GNATS when I first met Charlie and I always had the pleasure of finishing slower than he. The physical Charlie will be missed but the memories will always be with us. I am glad that I had the opportunity to share the road with him. Each time I pass the Washington Sailing Marina he will cross my mind. I expect that he is running now. Always in my prayers.
